A key issue for young people and their parents is education. We have drafted a number of school letter templates for you to use to communicate with your child's school. While every effort has been made to cover all the relevant issues, you will need to include a number of facts about your child's particular situation. Try and be as clear as possible, organising your thoughts in chronological order.
The template letters will enable you to:
· contest suspensions and/or expulsions
· highlight bullying problems at school
· seek intervention where you believe your child has a learning disability
Learning Disability
If you want to contact the school principal if you suspect your child has a learning these templates should be used. If you have seen a doctor, for example, and an assessment has been made and confirms your child has a learning disability use the "Assessment Made" template. If no assessment has been made, use the "No Assessment" template:

Bullying
If your child is being bullied at school and you are not satisfied with the school's response, you should contact the Director of Education in your area (public schools) or the Association of Independent Schools (private schools).
Suspension or Expulsion
If your child has been suspended or expelled from school and you want to appeal the decision, you should contact the Director of Education in your area (public schools) or the Association of Independent Schools (private schools).

Access to Information
Under Freedom of Information laws you are entitled access your child's school records by contacting the Director of Education in your area (public schools) or the Association of Independent Schools (private schools). You should use the "File Request" template.
If you want to access information from a government department, you should use the "Freedom of Information" template.
