CASEWORK
DRIVING OFFENCES
Tim Jones
In early July, the Centre represented a 16 year old boy in Albion Park Local Court. Tim had been charged with several traffic offences and approached the Centre two weeks before the court appearance seeking help after exhausting other attempts at receiving representation.
Tim's offences all related to riding a "pocket rocket" motorbike (49CC) on the road. He was unaware that he was committing an offence since the retailer who sold him the bike misled him. Furthermore, the police had arrested Tim when he was pulled over and he also spent time in a police cell. The Centre obtained a favourable result for Tim in court and subsequently drafted a complaint against the police officer that arrested Tim and also drafted a letter to the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission requesting an investigation of the practices of the retailers of "pocket rocket" motorcycles.
Jordan
We continued to act as agents for Youthlaw Victoria who were representing Jordan in regards to two infringement notices she received for driving offences. The two infringement notices were finally dismissed in court.
