CASEWORKLawMail A increasing area of the centre's advice and infromation work is facilitated by our LawMail program. The LawMail program was added to the Lawstuff website in 1998. Since it's inception, LawMail has provided a vital avenue of service provision, directed towards young people. Many children and young people have ready access to the internet, whether it is at home, public libraries or schools and prefer the anonymity such a service provides. The last year has seen the number of LawMails received by the Centre double. LawMails now constitute a significant proportion of the Centre's activities. The LawMail service relies on the Cyber Volunteer Program to provide lawyers from each state or territory across Australia to answer individual LawMails. This is particularly important in connecting youth in remote areas with specialised legal advice. In the August - October period we have answered 358 LawMails about sexual assault, care & protection, family law, bullying and other issues effecting young people. Thank you to all the Cyber Volunteers who assisted in preparing the legal advice and information for these cases. For more information about the Cyber Volunteer program contact Sarah Winter on (02) 9398 7488 or sarah.winter@unsw.edu.au
