National Youth Advocates Network

The National Youth Advocates Network (NYAN) is run under the National Association of Community Legal Centres, and coordinated by the NCYLC.

The Network comprises of some 50 youth advocates nation-wide, drawn from community legal services, children's advocacy organisations, youth peak bodies, and community information services. The aim of the network is to improve the provision of legal and advocacy services for children and young people in a coordinated way. The Network meets on a quarterly basis, reporting back to the National Association.

With an eye to achieving this goal the NYAN:

• undertakes coordinated lobbying and advocacy at a national level on behalf of young people;
• provides professional and information support to youth advocates;
• keeps youth advocates abreast of legal and policy developments in other States and Territories; and
• provides an infrastructure through which legal service provision can be coordinated and reflective of the needs of all young people, whether in metropolitan, rural, or remote areas.

The NCYLC continues to play a critical role in the Network.
